Studio Updates, temporary online classes & lots of love xoπŸ’•

Hello Beautiful Yoga Family,

Wow, sometimes all of this doesn't seem real does it?
As we research and keep an eye on things, we are noticing a trend of businesses closing temporarily, and with all the new information coming from the government we are also in this boat. This comes from well informed care and caution for wanting to protect everyone, our community and our earth. One thing this virus has taught us is how very connected we are and what each of us does has an impact.

I have listened to the epidemiology and the tracking of this virus/disease and the messages coming from around the world of how this virus is spreading. Social distancing is crucial at this time. It is possible to get ahead of this and I feel Canada is doing the right thing.

I have learned about what is called disease burden and that is looking at the parts of this that are not about the illness... it’s about the effects of the disease on the health care system and society at large. So it is important to get ahead of this and close down for a week or two vs what could be months and months later on down the road. As it has been seen in other countries, what starts out mild ends up spiking and health care systems can't handle it.

Being in person to teach you is so important to me and to stay connected to all of you, give hugs and support but for right now I feel this is the safest option for everyone. We don’t want to lose our connection to one another and we want for you to continue practicing for your well-being, so we are doing what we hope is the next best thing and are going to continue classes online for the time being. Many studios are moving to this option for now. Your practice can help keep your whole body and your immune system strong. And the yin/restorative classes can allow for downtime to unwind your nervous system from the unknowns of this current situation.

No two classes we teach are the same so I will be adding new classes each week (just like we would be teaching you in person) and the link will be available for 1 day so you have access to it all day (instead of just the class time) seeing as many of our schedules will be disrupted by all that is going on. This way you can fit it in through the day when it works for you. Here are some of the things that we are doing to continue with practicing:

1. Current passes can be used for online classes and people can also β€œdrop in”! Just send me a note back that you want to take a specific class and I will send you the private group you tube link and you can send an e-transfer for the drop in. I will keep the punch passes at home with me so when I share the link with you I know you have taken the class and will use your pass. Please let me know at the beginning of the week which classes you are joining. I will need to know if people are signing up because I am creating a new video for each and every class :)

2. We are also asking for your support as well with this temporary idea as it is the only way the studio will make it through this time of uncertainty. Everything we do is group oriented so now that we can not run anything in person this is the only way right now that we can hope to move forward.

3. At the start of each new class I will share how many of us practiced in the class before so we know we are not alone on our mats :)

4. If you would like to practice on a different day, I can send you a link for one of the classes for that day as well.

THIS WEEK I am starting online classes and I will post the class by 6am the morning of the class. The online classes will duplicate the daily schedule we currently have. Jasmin and I will be connecting about Tuesday & Wednesday classes to start back up as well but as of this week they are cancelled.

Friday March 20

What you will need for a class:
Yoga mat
Eye cover/pillow
Two blocks (big books can work)
Bolster (a pillow or couch cushion can work)
A strap (a belt can work!)
Blanket

This is a new journey for all of us. As I create videos it will be entertaining to say the least! I am new to this! Old jokes, new jokes...I hope to bring some smiles to your faces :). This new online journey reminds me of what it was like to practice yoga for the first time. Kind self dialogue, be patient with myself, do what I can and have some fun! Thank you for being on this journey with me. Please send feedback as well!

I miss everyone and am here to support in any way I can.
Here is the link to my first video. And this is how easy it will be to connect to the private online classes! Just click and you are taken to the class!

Love, healing and peace to all of you and all beings everywhere.

Restorative Yoga with Colleen
Saturday February 22 @ 10:45am-12pm (this will take the place of the yin class)
Drop in: $20 or use your yoga pass but please pre-register by this Thursday, even if you have a punch pass.
Only 16 spots available.
We have extra props for you to use but if you have your own, please bring them as restorative yoga requires a lot of props for each person (if possible, please bring 2 blankets, bolster and a block).

β€œMake a date with yourself for rest and relaxation.”
The practice of Restorative Yoga allows the body to fully rest and re-set the nervous system. The supportive use of props helps to elicit a relaxation response in the body and the mind. This practice benefits all of the muscles and organs in the body through a process of repair and rejuvenation; it also aids in mental health, is supportive to the immune system, regulates metabolism and helps with insomnia. Restorative Yoga is for β€œevery body” and β€œeverybody” today needs it! No experience is required and everyone is welcome!

Sattva, Stillness & Soundbath with Kevin Gaudet
Saturday March 28
9:30am: Sattva Yoga
10:45am: Stillness/Nidra & Soundbath

Investment: Use your pass or if you haven’t been before: $35 for both classes.
Drop in for one: $20
Please pre-register as space is limited!

SATTVA All Levels: SATTVA yoga is for the whole person -- body, breath and mind. The asana sequences are well-rounded, vigorous vinyasa-based classes that address the body systematically, moving through monthly cycles of Front, Back, Side and Central Strength perspectives on the body, as well as their correlating energetic and mental experiences. We will focus specifically on the Side Body lines for the month of March, developing sensitivity, clarity and concentration as we do so. Pranayama and meditation practices will be included at the end of the practice.

Nidra and Sound: Prepare for deep relaxation and insight to arise, as the ancient technologies of yogic sleeping (nidra) and sound (nada) are artfully combined. Sound artist Kevin Gaudet will guide you into a receptive state both verbally and through the use of his three wind gongs, wherein the body and mind can rest, heal and integrate. The mind will be sweetly and compassionately overwhelmed by the power of sound and vibration, allowing you to experience your inner environment in new and profound ways.
