I wanted to share a beautiful reading with you (see below). My mom told me about it and it definitely holds a lot of power. It is from the book Steering by Starlight by Martha Beck.
Having lost my family unit in my late teens due to mental illness of a family member, there is so much power and emotion for me in the line: "Her family is the family of a broken elephant. But they are strong in the broken places."
Our strength can come from experiencing struggles.
And in those times it is so important to have support around us. Sometimes the support from others gives us the strength we need to keep going.
It definitely did for Elvis the elephant.
Rumi's quote is also a great reminder of the strength that we develop from struggle:
"The wound is the place where the light enters you."

Start your day off revitalized by connecting with others and taking some time for yourself. If you are feeling alone or have low energy join us for some connection and support. This can make a huge difference in your day!
Join me for 7 live morning meditation sessions in a row! Each morning has a different theme as we follow the elements of nature & energy centres of the body.
We will use some gentle movements to wake the body up (all can be done seated or lying down). These, along with the meditation and optional essential oil, will be specific to each element and corresponding energy centre of the body.

To Prepare: Create a Sacred Space for Yourself
When meditating itโs important to have a relaxing space for yourself. You can use a small table and include things that bring peace and joy to you. Perhaps a special keepsake or some pictures of loved ones. Representing the elements of nature can be really lovely as well. Some examples:
Earth: A stone or crystal
Water: A small vase of water with a flower or little fountain
Fire: A candle
Air: A smudge bundle with feather

Live Zoom Class 9 Week Session: February 1 to March 31- 9 Weeks
If you haven't tried out live zoom classes before, your first class is FREE so you can experience the energy of it compared to recorded classes. Choose any class! Please pre-register.
Wednesdays @ 9:30am: Weights & Yoga 60min
Build bone density & lean body mass by adding weight training to your exercise regime. This class will include different weight training exercises and muscle groups each week. We will also use yoga poses that improve strength and balance and finish class with stretches for the areas that we worked.
Fridays @ 9:30am: Strength, Balance & Mobility Class for Joint Health 60min
Improve your strength & balance with yoga poses and body weight exercises. Improve joint health with mobility exercises and learn therapy ball exercises to decrease stiffness in the body and increase range of motion.
Saturdays @ 9am: Yoga for Strength & Core 60min
This fun and rejuvenating class is full of movement and core work to help you build overall strength. Class finishes with some stretching and relaxation.
NEW: Saturdays @ 10:30am: Trauma-Sensitive Yoga 60min
This class is a gentle, slow & methodical class with a set sequence. Only 6 spots available for this session.
NEW: Sundays @ 5:45pm: Yin Yoga for Stress & Anxiety 60min
Settle into poses that are specific to decreasing stress and anxiety in your body.
Sundays @ 7pm: Yoga Nidra & Soundbath 30min (because this class is 30min it has its own pricing)

Please join us at least 5 minutes before class to get settled! To enhance the experience of your sound it is good to have headphones/earbuds (but not necessary).
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that can help activate the relaxation response in your body and improve the functioning of your nervous system. It can also help decrease anxiety, improve your mood, help manage immune function, blood pressure, cortisol levels and induce restful sleep. After your nidra I will be playing some crystal singing bowls to take you deeper into relaxation.
You can do this class in bed or on a thick mat or blanket. You also need a blanket, eye cover and a bolster or pillow under your knees. If you have a weighted blanket that would also work well.
The soundbath portion is not to be done if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, cochlear implants/hearing aids, have epilepsy or have implants or plates/pins in the body. If you have any questions, please let me know.
The Science Behind Sound Healing
Quantum physics tells us that every cell in our body is made up of vibrating matter joined together by magnetic forces. Every cell has its own natural vibrating frequency. When that frequency becomes disrupted or imbalanced by factors such as emotional (stress, anxiety, fear, depression, etc.), hormonal or chemical changes in the body, your frequency starts to lower.
There has been research done that shows that the cells in the body actually have a lower frequency of vibration when there is illness or disease present.
Since our bodies respond not just to internal factors but also external factors, we can use sound to bring our cells back to "vibrational" balance. Certain sounds or vibrations can quickly locate the discordant frequencies in the body and restore the body back to its natural state of harmony.
Sound also helps us to shift our brainwaves to a more desired state to allow deep meditative states where healing or expanded consciousness can occur. Through what is known as entrainment, when specific healing sounds are played, our brains start to synchronize with that frequency or rhythm. Taking us from beta (normal consciousness) to alpha (relaxed, meditative), then possibly to theta (deep meditation) and delta (sleep). These deeper states of consciousness allow our body to restore and rejuvenate itself, activating de-stressing responses in our body.
