Yoga, Weights & Mobility Exercises for Shoulders
Saturday May 1 @8am (45min)
This class will include some yoga and weights for building strength in the shoulders. We will finish off with some mobility exercises to decrease tension and stiffness in the shoulders and upper back.
For class you will need: a yoga mat, block, therapy balls (tennis balls work too) a strap, a bolster and a set each of lighter and heavier weights.

I did it! I completed the Advanced Teacher Training with the Lifestyle Meditation Academy! During a time of dealing with so many ups and downs with my business having to shutdown, then opening with a new space, then closing again and losing another space, this training was perfectly timed. It took me on such a ride of personal growth, self-inquiry, vulnerability and acceptance of all of it. I am really excited to share more meditations with you, the science behind it and the proven benefits it offers.

I connected with new friends and reconnected with soul sisters I have known for many years. It was so nice to have the commitment each week with all of these beauties.

Whether you want to teach or not, this training offers the education to do that and so much more. There is deep personal growth that occurs that changes a person forever.

I know that yoga, fitness and meditation are crucial in maintaining optimal health. I know all of this to be true because I experienced many health challenges due to years of chronic stress in trying to support a family member who struggled with mental illness. And then it became even more difficult in trying to be an advocate for them when they had to be moved to long term care.

Talk about a system that needs to change as it added so much more stress that could have been easily prevented. It is a system where you try to be a voice for those who don’t have one and even yours is not heard most of the time. It was truly a constant battle and I still have deep sadness seeing that once someone goes in they lose all of their independence and there is no proactive health and compassion care. It is facility based care not resident based care and if a senior doesn’t fit within what is easiest to take care of (wheelchair bound) and will cost the least amount of money, they are singled out and sent away.

Chronic stress from that experience did a number on me. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, adrenal fatigue, hair loss, weight gain and anxiety attacks that made my arms go completely weak and I could not use them until the sensation went away. What kept me grounded were my meditations and mindfulness sessions including yoga, mindful walks and yoga nidra meditations 1-3 times a day. Without these tools, I would have completely burned out. My experience of taking even just 5 minutes a day made a huge difference and as I continue with my meditation practice, it feels like a complete reset. I feel so grounded and replenished afterwards and that I have experienced deep healing.
