The intention of this class is to create an environment that supports physical, mental and emotional cleansing. This class can help us learn how essential oils support you in your yoga practice and in your daily life, especially for cleansing and detoxification. And the poses and energy exercises used can help with releasing emotional and physical stress.
Many of the health challenges that we face today can be linked to pollutants and toxins in our environment that most of us come into contact with on a daily basis. Consider the constant exposure to the hundreds of chemicals that are found in our food, water, household cleaning products and personal care products such as hair care, deodorant, skin lotions, toothpaste, cosmetics, etc.
Understanding how essential oils work with the human body can help empower you to use essential oils regularly and to naturally awaken your body’s cleansing and detoxification processes.
The oils used in the class are:
Peppermint (alternative: spearmint)
Release (alternatives: lavender, grapefruit, lemon or sandalwood)
Transformation (alternatives: peppermint, frankincense or spruce)
Forgiveness (alternatives: lavender, angelica or ylang ylang)
Peace & Calming (alternatives: orange or ylang ylang)
If you need any of the above blends that we will be using in class you can use the alternatives I have listed or I have little sample bottles I can get to you. One sample bottle is $2. Or the 5 pack is $8.
Our April Special Guest Instructor is: Colleen Dibden! She has sent us a lovely
Restorative Yoga class. The theme for this class is:
Discover Your Energetic Self through Rest and Relaxation”
This class is free for members. It will be on the site for you on Friday evening!
This Restorative Yoga practice includes postures held for longer periods of time (10-15 minutes). The postures are effortless and involve the use of props to support the body and the mind in deep relaxation. In today’s culture many of us have forgotten how to relax. Our body and minds are in a constant state of stress and anxiety. The result is the continuous release of stress hormones leading to disease and suffering in the body and mind. Restorative yoga can balance out the chronic stress we experience as it is a deeply healing practice that supports the rest, digest and repair system of the body.
You will need the following props for the practice: yoga bolster or one or two thick towels rolled lengthwise, two or three blankets, an eye pillow or face cloth, a chair (ideally a card table chair but any type will do) and one small firm cushion.
Dress warmly and comfortably.
Relax, breathe and enjoy!
