Last Call for Wellness Membership Special, In-Studio Class Registration π
/Hello everyone!
I wanted to share the above quote as it definitely hits home when it comes to all of us having to adapt, pivot and in some ways, totally change the way we do things. I am continually trying new ways to support you and create connection. There are some days when it is really tough, especially because seeing your faces come through the studio door, our visits and giggles between everyone were and are so precious. They meant so much and still do. It has been a whole year since we had to close down and definitely a year of ups and downs. I just wanted to say thank you for your continued support! And I feel we are getting closer to in person classes! Please see the in studio updates below!
Sending love,
Janelle xo

Our daily habits build our future body and mind. Updates on In Studio Classes:
I am getting feedback that there is a real need for connection for all of us! And I sure am missing all of you!
Here is hoping that in Step 3 we will be able to run classes with healthier guidelines. My hope is to start running in person classes Friday April 9.
I will be taking bookings every week for now as planning ahead is too uncertain. Please book your spot for your April 9, 10 or 11 class by sending an email back to me as I have to register everyone ahead of time and space is limited.
Cost of any 1 class is $20 and cash on the day would be best for now. :)
I hope to see you on the mat soon!!

If more restrictions are lifted, these are the classes I will be running starting April 9!!:
Fridays
Yoga for Strength: 9:30-10:30am
This fun and challenging class gives you a full body experience with yoga poses that build strength and stability, improve balance and cardiovascular health! Class is finished off with core strengthening, stretching & relaxation. You will need a yoga mat, strap, hand towel & block for this class. Optional props to bring are a bolster.
Strength, Balance & Mobility for Longevity for 50+: 11am-12pm
As we age, it is crucial to stay moving and to learn healthy movement patterns to support and maintain our body for many years to come. In this class, you will learn specific exercises that will help support your longevity, joint health and keep you strong and moving fluidly! You will learn movement that stimulates the nutrition needed to lubricate joint surfaces and exercises that can create ease in your movement and decrease soreness and pain. We will work with proprioceptors to help improve balance to prevent falls (and if you do fall, to learn ways to get up off the floor on your own). We will also include a few body weight or weight training exercises each class. We will then decrease muscle tension and help increase healthy range of motion by learning to use therapy balls. You will learn different exercises for specific muscle groups with the therapy balls which you can take home with you and use any time you need! Chairs are also used throughout the class for different exercises and can be used any time for those with mobility restrictions.
What you will need for a class: Free weights (one heavier set and one lighter set), yoga mat, eye cover/pillow, 1 block, bolster, strap, blanket, therapy balls & a chair (will be provided).
Saturdays
Yoga Flow for Strength, Cardio & Core: 9-10am
This is a dynamic and energizing vinyasa style practice where we flow fluidly from one posture to the next, guided by the rhythm of our breath. This style of practice is more challenging and promotes both strength & flexibility in the muscles, while also encouraging greater stability and range of motion through the joints. When we synchronize the movement of the body with the flow of the breath, we cultivate a deeper sense of focus and clarity, promoting a steady mind and a calm nervous system.
Yoga for Stiff/Sore Muscles & Joints: 6:30-7:30pm
Are you not moving because you are sore or stiff? Or are you sore & stiff because you are not moving? When we are sore we don't want to move but movement is actually what helps stimulate the fluid in our joints that can help them move better and decrease or even relieve pain.
This class will address the most common areas of tension. There will be effective mobility exercises used in this class along with therapy ball techniques taught to help support both your muscles and joints. Therapy ball rolling helps increase circulation, speeds up exercise recovery, increases range of motion and decreases stiffness and soreness in muscles and joints. Therapy Balls provide targeted self-massage trigger point therapy by using specially designed high grip rubber massage balls and focused movement routines to help penetrate through layers of skin and muscle to massage deeply into your high tension areas. For this class you will need a yoga mat, block, blanket, strap & therapy balls (tennis balls can be use, you can rent a set at the studio or you can order balls from me).
Sundays
Yoga for Pandemic Fatigue: 10am
Most of us may be tired of the fear that sometimes comes with the unknown. It is so important to know that it is ok to feel this way and that it is possible to develop coping skills for the individual & collective fatigue we are experiencing. This is crucial for our physical & emotional health. This class will include gentle movement that can help rinse out stress from our physical & emotional body. Also, certain movement & positions have a way of either stimulating or relaxing the body. We will be implementing ones that calm the nervous system down. You will also learn coping skills that will help decrease anxiety in the body and mind. At the end of class, we will move into some guided relaxation to settle into deeper rest and healing. Our body is not meant to deal with chronic stress and this class can help give us the reset we need. You will need a bolster, blanket, eye cover, block and therapy balls (tennis balls work just fine).
About Janelle:
My love of practicing yoga started back in 2001. I practiced for a long time before a major life event pushed me to dive deep and I thought a teacher training would be perfect for the personal growth I was craving. It was challenging for me and it changed my life! I did not go to training with the intention of teaching and did not think I would actually teach but after doing some practice teaching regularly with a group of friends, I ended up seeing (and hearing!) how well they felt and the changes they were experiencing! That pushed me to start teaching on a regular basis. And I say push because even though I have been an extrovert in the past, I am also very introverted and am an empath so teaching in front of a group of people was initially very scary for me!
I started teaching in 2009. Yoga has a way of elevating my sense of well-being and is incredible for building overall strength, stability & mobility. Staying focused on breath and movement calms my body and mind. I love being able to access different practices depending on what it is I am needing each day. I have experienced burn out and yoga has been my saving grace in giving me tools to calm my nervous system down and bring my body back from chronic fatigue. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (most common form of hypothyroidism) back in 2000 and I am happy to say that today my doctor can not find any sign of it! I contribute that healing to yoga, eating the right foods and listening to my body each and every day. I continue to teach in the hopes that I can help others feel lifted, supported and cared for each time they step on to their mat. xo
