November 2020
Hi everyone! What a beautiful fall we have had! As we shift into winter, I wanted to share the below reading as it is a great reminder that we need to give ourselves permission to rest, we are ok to just be and it is important to follow the seasons and the support they hold for us. We are, after all, human beings not human doings and rest and recuperation is where the body does its healing.

"See the pine trees and learn their lesson,' a friend once said. 'Pine trees are nature's reminder that growth continues even in the winter.'
Winter is an important season in our lives. It is more than a time of coldness and snow. It's a time of going within. A time to rest from the work that's been done, a time to prepare for the lessons ahead. Long for the sun on your shoulders, but let the frost and cold come. The ground has been left fallow in preparation for nourishing the seeds of new life.
Honor winter's lesson. Despite the time of lifelessness and inactivity, this is still a season of growth. Trust what's being worked out in your soul. The snow will melt. The sun will shine again. The time will come to remove your heavy garb and return to the activity of life.
Cherish the winter. Cherish its quietness, the time of going within to rest and heal. Cherish this time of preparation that must come before new life. Cherish the hope that lies beneath the snow."
-Melody Beattie, Journey to the Heart

I hope all of you are staying safe and well. I know some of you are enjoying in person classes while some are appreciating being able to stay at home to practice. And some bit of both!
I am pre-registering classes and am taking a limited amount of people per class as I see covid cases are going up and I want to make sure we are all safe and stay that way. Please send me an email back to let me know what class(es) you wish to join by Wednesday October 28!

Friday @ 11am Strength, Balance & Mobility Class for Seniors
4 weeks: $64
This class is great for beginners as well!
"Growing older is inevitable. Aging is optional."
As we age, it is crucial to stay moving and to learn healthy movement patterns to support and maintain our body for many years to come. In this class, you will learn specific exercises that will help support your longevity, joint health and keep you strong and moving fluidly! You will learn movement that stimulates the nutrition needed to lubricate joint surfaces and exercises that can create ease in your movement and decrease soreness and pain. We will also work with proprioceptors to help improve balance to prevent falls.

We will also include a few weight training exercises each class. You will learn how to lift weights correctly for specific muscle groups supporting bone density and lean body mass. There is research that shows we lose 1 pound of lean body mass after the age of 35 so it is important to maintain it with added resistance.

We will then decrease muscle tension and help increase healthy range of motion by learning to use therapy balls. You will learn different exercises for specific muscle groups with the therapy balls which you can take home with you and use any time you need! Chairs are also used throughout the class for different exercises and can be used any time for those with mobility restrictions.

Friday @ 5-6pm Therapy Ball Rolling/Self Myo-fascial Release & Gentle Stretching
4 weeks: $64

Self myo-fascial release is a technique used by individuals to target areas of fascial and muscle restriction without the assistance of a clinician. It has become increasingly popular among active populations as a form of injury rehabilitation/prevention and for the maintenance of healthy tissues.
Multiple studies have shown an improvement in range of motion of the ankle, hip, knee  and lumbar area after rolling. Research suggests that rolling can increase range of motion by increasing tissue temperature and changing the fascia from a more solid like gel to a fluid state. It has also been shown to decrease muscle soreness. In this class you will learn different rolling techniques with therapy balls to access high tension areas in the body.
We will also be adding some gentle stretching in between each exercise. Please bring a block and therapy balls. Balls can be purchased ahead of time from me!

Saturday @ 9:30am Yoga for Strength & Core
4 weeks: $64

This fun and challenging class gives you a full body experience with yoga poses that build strength and stability, improve balance and cardiovascular health. And more core exercises are added throughout this class! Class is finished off with stretching & relaxation.

Sunday @ 10am Restorative, Yin & Yoga Nidra for Stress & Anxiety Relief
4 weeks (no class November 29) $64
There are two kinds of stress that have long-term effects on our mental well-being and physical health – intense stress and prolonged/chronic stress and right now, we have both. This class includes both yin poses and more supported restorative poses. Poses will be specific for relaxing the nervous system and decreasing anxiety in the body. We will then finish class with a yoga nidra (sleep yoga) session to drop into deeper healing and relaxation.
Please bring a bolster, block, 2 blankets & an eye cover.

If you are more comfortable wearing a mask to the space, to your mat and then remove it once you get to your mat, please do so.
